Teide Volcano
The majestic Teide Volcano is the highest peak in the Atlantic Ocean and the world's third tallest volcano with a height of 7500 meters above the ocean floor. Mount Teide is an active volcano which las erupted in 1909. The volcano and its surrounds comprise the beautiful Teide National Park, a World Heritage Site. This volcanic landscape became the backdrop for many famous films including Star Wars, Mad Max and The Planet of Apes.
Puerto de la Cruz
Located on the north coast of the Tenerife, within the Orotava Valley, Puerto de la Cruz is the principle tourist centre of the island. This cosmopolitan, old colonial town is known to tourists from all over Europe and beyond. This quaint city is home to the Loro Parque (Parrot Park), a park of tropical animals and plants boasting the largest collection of parrots in the world. Besides the 3000 species of parrots, there are also storks, Galapagos turtles, Siberian tigers and pink flamingos. Visit an impressive parrot, sea lion or dolphin show, watch the three-dimension-effect movie, and come face to face with sharks, stingrays and piranahs in the underground tunnel-aquarium.
